Basketball Lesson Plan - Grade 3

Passing:
  • Chest pass
  • Bounce pass
  • Make 25 passes and sit down, if the ball falls, start again with counting. Which couple finishes first?

Game:

Make 5 passes within you team to get a point. The other team tries to intercept the ball and to make 5 passes for a point.

Materials:

4 sets of 8 pinnies, 16 small cones, 12 basketballs, 2 yellow volleyballs.

Passing:

  • In couples
  • Distance between students about 4-5 meters

Game:

  • 3:3 or 3:4. 4th person is the joker who helps the team with the ball to make a point.

 

Passing:
  • Hands on the side of the ball
  • Fingers point forward
  • Ball starts at chest
  • Step out and pass
  • Point with arms and hands on the direction of where the ball goes

Game:

  • Go to a position where you can get the ball. Right place, right distance.
  • Make passes how we practiced
  • Make quick combinations
  • No physical contact or hitting the ball out of someone's hands

Passes:
  • Chest and bounce, quick repetition for technique.
Shooting:
  • BEEF (balance, eyes, elbow, flex)
  • shoot ball in the hands of the couple. Use BEEF to shoot ball

Game:

Basketball 3:3 on a half field. Only passing. Each attack starts from the middle. If the other team intercepts the ball they go free to the middle to build up a new attack.

 

Materials:

4 sets of 8 pinnies, 16 small cones, 12 basketballs.

Passing and shooting:

  • In couples
  • Distance between students about 4-5 meters

Game:

  • Teams of 3 students
  • Each game is 4 minutes
Passing:
  • What where the points of attention when passing
Shooting:
  • BEEF
  • Balance, stand stable
  • Eyes on the target
  • Elbow bend forward
  • Flex the wrist when shooting
Game:
  • Go to a position where you can get the ball. Right place, right distance.
  • Make passes how we practiced
  • Make quick combinations
  • No physical or hitting the ball out of hands
  • It's free (no defense) to go back to the middle after an interception, from there the game starts again

Exercise

  • passing the ball within couple while moving to the other side of the court. Shoot when close to basket.

Game:

Basketball 3:3 on a half field. Dribbling allowed when there is no defense. Each attack starts from the middle. If the other team intercepts the ball they go free to the middle to build up a new attack.

Materials:

4 sets of 8 pinnies, 16 small cones, 12 basketballs.

Exercise:

  • Distance between students in exercise about 4-5 meters
  • Change sides after each turn and walk back on the outside of the field

Game:

  • Teams of 3
  • Each game is 4 minutes
Exercise:
  • Use Basketball walk rule when having the ball.
  • Catch and pass quick or move slower to have time.
  • Person on the right side shoots and takes the ball back to the beginning.
  • Change side when walking back, left to right and right to left.
Game:
  • Dribble only when there is space to move forward, pass the ball to a team mate if there is a defense.

Tournament:

Games of 3:3 on half field

Materials:

4 sets of 8 pinnies, 16 small cones, 3 basketballs.

Game:

  • Teams of 3
  • Each game is 5 minutes.
  • 3 or 4 teams play all the games on the same half of the court.
Tournament:
  • Everybody has to get the ball during the games.
  • Help others find good positions in the field
  • Students are their own referees, everybody knows the rules
  • After the whistle of the end of the game, go the board to tell the score and to look when to play next.
