Ball Games Lesson Plan - Grade 4

Game, Hit the cones:

Hit one of the three cones of the other team to get a point

Materials for the unit:

5 sets of 4 colored shirts, two yellow balls, 12 small cones, 5 medium cones, long jump rope, two basketball standards

  • Teams of 4 persons
  • Two fields

Games are 5 minutes each, then change.
Rules:
  • Only pivot when you have the ball
  • No physical contact
  • Defense stays on an arm length distance
  • Only the goalie can be behind the yellow line, the rest of the players have to stay in the field
  • When a team has the ball, the goalie goes in to the field to play, when the other team intercepts the ball, the goalie goes back.

Hakoball:

You can make a point by throwing the ball from the end zone in the goal in the center of the field. By getting the ball to the end zone, it has to pass through a player in each zone of the field.

  • The field is split up in 4 zones
  • In the two zones in the middle are two players of each team
  • In the end zone are only one or two players who can shoot on the goal
  • Each team has one goalie

Game take about 8 minutes, than change. Each team plays two games.
Rules:
  • Normal ball game rules for walking and defense
  • To get the ball to the shooters in the end zone, the ball has to pass through a player in each zone
  • The goalie can only play to the players in his own zone
  • the ball has to be passes on the sides of the goal, not over or through it.
  • Each players stays in the zone he/ she is in.
  • Fouls against the rules are taken out by the goalies.
  • Fouls against the person are taken out on the yellow line.
  • Only a good catch and pass count as having touched the ball in a zone
  • Normal bounce or chest passes

Hakoball:

Tournament.Look on the white board when and against who to play. There is 15 seconds changing time between games. Each game is 5 minutes

Schedule of games and results are written on the white board.
  • Decide about positions before coming in the field to start quickly
  • Divide players well over all the zones of the field.
  • Change positions during the different games to play on different places of the field.
